No Sin Is Too Big For The Cross Psalm 65 (day13)

For this lent season, I am doing a forty-day study in the Psalms looking for aspects of the atonement that will end around Easter. My hope is to generate a newfound awe of what Christ did on the cross.

Psalm 65:3-4
[3] When iniquities prevail against me, you atone for our transgressions. [4] Blessed is the one you choose and bring near, to dwell in your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple!

How big is your sin today? Is it prevailing against you? David wrestled with a lot of sin in his life.   He states in Psalm 38:4, “For my iniquities have gone over my head; like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me”. Do you ever feel like that? Where your sin is so far over your head it feels like it's going to crush you. The truth is your sin can't crush you because it crushed Jesus on the cross. The enemy wants you to believe that your sin can overtake you; your sins can keep you hostage. That's just not true because in verse 4 we see what the answer is when you “feel” overcome by sin. We are blessed! And this what Christ accomplished by atoning for our sin

[4] Blessed is the one you choose and bring near, to dwell in your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple!

God even promises us that we will be satisfied.  Do you see the contrast? That David’s prevailing sin pushed him into satisfaction in God. That is amazing, right? When we feel the heaviness of sin the answer is to be satisfied in God because that's what he promised so you can expect that from your God. So if your sin is killing you, remember it killed Jesus. What you're left with is being satisfied with the goodness of God even when there's prevailing sin. I think this is the best picture of repentance. From prevailing sin to satisfaction in God.

Thank you Jesus!
